Message from Tim Picciano, HBDA President:

I am pleased to announce the new HDBA Board for 2008 (see below) which I believe provides good representation of the various business types we have in the District.  Please feel free to contact them about any HDBA business and they will get you to the right answer if available.

Please join me in sincerely thanking last year’s Officers and Board members for their unselfish and valuable service:

Anne Gleine, Past President, Ha’penny Bridge Imports of Ireland
Dave Connelly, Vice President, Edward Jones
Terry Schmitt, Secretary, Two Rivers Logowear
Rich Weber, At Large, Heartland Bank
Ian Meske, At Large, Starbucks

In addition, I have created a new position, HDBA Webmaster, which will attend each Board meeting for efficiency and accuracy of communication flow.  This position will be filled by Rich Taylor, Blarney Brothers, but will not have a Board vote (per by laws).

In other news, Eric Leslie, will take over as Chairman of the Sláinte Thursday campaign.  I will assist him as I hope many of you will as well.  Eric will be forwarding to the membership soon the concept structure for 2008 which is very exciting.

Thanks to all and I look forward to an exciting and prosperous 2008.

Get involved and reap the benefits!

Tim Picciano
President

HDBA General meetings are held four times throughout the year; HDBA Board of Directors meetings are generally held on the first Thursday of each month. See the calendar page for dates, times, and locations of HDBA meetings.

The answer in a single phrase:

"THERE IS GREAT STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!"

Specifically, your Benefits include:

1) Substantial clout when dealing with the City on any & all issues affecting our businesses!

Parking - Landscaping - Streetscaping
Traffic Control - Lighting - Pedestrian Management
Sidewalks - Events - Maintenance
Crosswalks - Improvements - Capital Budget Inclusion

2) Greater leverage in dealing with Marketing and Advertising Entities!

Larger Ads (e.g. quarter page) are noticed more than smaller ads (biz card size).
Less Cost/Volume Discount - Larger ads costs less per unit of space than smaller ads.

3) Dramatically Increased Impact on the General Public in creating Awareness of the Historic Business District as a DESTINATION!

Community Based Promotions and Events
Joint Advertising and Marketing
Coordinated Activities
Heightened Appeal and Image
Increased Pedestrian Traffic

4) Synergistic Effect from our Own Interaction!

Just from the meetings we've had, many ideas have surfaced that perhaps acting alone, none of us would have thought of. We feed off each other's energy and ideas; and we share what works and what does not work for us. Each of us has already come away with new promotional ideas for our own business just from talking to each other. This incredible synergistic effect is quite powerful and is perhaps the greatest benefit from joining the Association.
